How to Test Pickup

Weight on the scales matters less than weight in your hands. A 2lb 10oz bat with a high duckbill spine often picks up lighter than a 2lb 8oz bat with heavy toe mass.

  • Grip the handle with your top hand and raise horizontally for 5 seconds.
  • If your wrist drops or trembles, consider moving down 1-2 ounces.
  • Shorter handles allow faster wrist snap for cut and pull strokes.

Rule for Junior Players

Never buy a bat that is too large hoping the player will grow into it. Oversized bats compromise batting technique and cause defensive bottom-hand dominance.
